I know you can find out how to do almost anything on You Yube. But I was not thinking about You Tube when I was trying to use Martha Stewart’s ‘Circle Edge Punch’. This punch cut doilies from 6 inches to 12 inches. In Mixed Media projects we use a lot of doilies. So with a 50% coupon in hand, I went to Michaels and bought one. I didn’t try it out as first, but when I did decide to try it, I could not get it to work right and my doilies came out all wrong. I decided to take it back for a refund. I then told myself that I would check You Tube for directions (I didn’t understand the printed directions that came with the punch). I found a tutorial and found out what I did wrong and just like that I was able to make a perfect doilie. I look forward to using it in a number of my projects.
OK, yes it has been a year since I’ve posted. My daughter told me that if i did not post soon that she would cancel my account. So many things have happened in the past year. Some good and some bad. One bad thing that happened just this morning is that I think the battery in my laptop died. I’m typing this on my IPAD so if i have a lot of misspelled words, please forgive me. My older brother died from bone cancer in January of this year. My siblings and I had to watch him suffer with so much pain. But we know now that now he is in no pain. As if that wasn’t enough, on July 24th as many many tests I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a shock to hear my doctor actually say the words. My surgery was August 12th and i had a mastectomy of my right breast. I had so many good friends and family pray for me that the results came out really well. I was in stage 1 and did not have to have chemo or radiation. I do have to take this pill daily to keep hormones out of my body, which according to the pathology report, made my tumors grow. I have healed and will have my reconstruction done next year. I thank God for blessing me.
On July 18th of this year, my daughter gave birth to my 3rd grand daughter. I was depressed that I could not be there for her birth. There was so much for me to do in preparing for my surgery. I was so happy to hear that she was born healthy. She is now 3 months old and a sweet beautiful baby. Here she is “Sweet Baby Julia”
My next post will let you know what I have been doing craft wise.
Much Love my friends,
PS: I hope the picture came through. I don’t see it here.
I bet you can’t believe I’m back so soon. I’d like to share with you a relatively new product that I’ve just began using. It’s a Ranger Product called Dylusions Inks by Dyan Reaveley. Check her out on YouTube. She has 12 colors and all I can say is that they are so yummy. She also has some stencils that are great used with the ink. The pages I’m sharing is a background using Dylusions Inks, stencils and stamps. I took this picture to show the vibrant colors of the inks before I add my Journaling card stock for the month of July. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. My daughter and grand kids were here and I had a wonderful time.
I love doodling. I doodled a large page and decided to cut it into postcards. I had enough left to do a few ATC’s. I know I have been MIA for the last year but I’m back and ready to show some of art from the last few month.
Hello Wonderful Readers, Last weekend I celebrated my birthday and my anniversary. I received so many birthday wishes from my online friends, and my BFF home town friend LisaLisa. Thank you so much. Today I’d like to share with one of my presents. My lovely daughter ordered my present from one of my favorite Mixed Media Artists, Kelly Rae Roberts. I was so happy when my hubby bought in the package which contained a beautiful journal and a coffee mug. My daughter really know what I love. I love journaling and a good cup of coffee. So this present was right on time. Thank you so much Z. If you are interested in purchasing some of the beautiful items Kelly Rae has in her shop, please check out her website: www.kellyraeroberts.com. Remember I said that Kelly Rae was ONE of my favorite artists. There are many of you out there and I thank you for all the inspiration I receive. Until next time (warm hugs), Sharon
I sometime feel that time is moving too fast. It seems like it was only yesterday that my daughter was born. And here now I’m a grandmother. I can’t wait for time to speed up to Monday so that I can take “my sweet girls” into my loving arms. Have a safe and Happy 4th of July everyone. Hugs, Sharon
Good Afternoon blog friends. Just as my title says, I’m just messing around. I recently took a Doodle Art class on one of the .ning sites that I am involved in. I’m a member of so many that it has slipped my mind which one. If anyone is interested in this relaxing play, please notify me and I will look it up. Above is my layout of the class. I actually did it sitting in my recliner. So how cool is that? But really, I have to get serious with my art so I can get better.
I’m also taking a free class where I doodle and color on a index card every day for the summer. It’s designed to get you in the habit of doing some type of art daily. I’ll share some of what I’ve done later. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
Warm Hugs, Sharon (aka) Cherry Pie
Hello! I would like to wish every one a very Happy Day. I have been involved in a whirlwind of activity trying to get myself ready for the upcoming wedding of my niece. I’m excited that I will be able to see my grand kids and have sort of a mini-vacation. Today I’d like to share a journal page I have been working on. This page include some actual journaling underneath the layers of paint and tissue collage. The title “My Biggest Fear” is so true. We live in a small town that is considered ‘country’. Although I live in a neighborhood, to get there, you will see cows and other farm animals. My husband has a beautiful garden and plenty of fruit trees and flowers around our house. I don’t go out there much because I am so scared I will walk upon a snake. Recently he (my husband) asked me to come out in the yard to show me something he had done. I went out but was not comfortable at all. I decided this would be what I would use as a title page for my journal. Also, I have a picture of some stencils I cut out of some of my Sizzix dies. Most of you will recognize the dies because a lot of us have them. The die on the upper left is a retired die from Stampin Up (at least I think it is retired) called “Tulipe Bigz”. Thanks for reading and I’ll have more to share next week. Oh By the Way, I like to say “You Go Girl” to Paula (aka) Journal Artista. She is a beloved member of our UStream community and UStream host. Paula has a DVD coming out soon through Interweave. You can watch her promo video of the DVD here. Warm Hugs, Sharon
I have been busy as a bee. You might not think so because I’m retired, but there are definitely lots of things to do. Some people don’t realize this. They feel that if you don’t have quote “Day Job”, you are just lying around doing nothing. This is definitely not the case. Sometime I wish I did have a day job. I am truly not the domestic type. Below please find a few things that I have been working on. I’m learning day by day. I want to send a big THANK YOU to all the nice ladies (you too Blade) in my art journal community and my .ning sites. Have a beautiful day everyone.
