Happy Birthday to Me

Hello Wonderful Readers,                                                                                                                 Last weekend I celebrated my birthday and my anniversary. I received so many birthday wishes from my online friends, and my BFF home town friend LisaLisa. Thank you so much. Today I’d like to share with one of my presents. My lovely daughter ordered my present from one of my favorite Mixed Media Artists, Kelly Rae Roberts. I was so happy when my hubby bought in the package which contained a beautiful journal and a coffee mug.  My daughter really know what I love. I love journaling and a good cup of coffee. So this present was right on time.  Thank you so much Z. If you are interested in purchasing some of the beautiful items Kelly Rae has in her shop, please check out her website: www.kellyraeroberts.com. Remember I said that Kelly Rae was ONE of my favorite artists. There are many of you out there and I thank you for all the inspiration I receive. Until next time (warm hugs),                                                                                                         Sharon

My Sweet Girls!!!

I sometime feel that time is moving too fast. It seems like it was only yesterday that my daughter was born. And here now I’m a grandmother. I can’t wait for time to speed up to Monday so that I can take “my sweet girls” into my loving arms.  Have a safe and Happy 4th of July everyone.                                                                                                                           Hugs,                                                                                                                                             Sharon

Just Messing Around!!

Art Journaling Doodle Dream Board

Good Afternoon blog friends.  Just as my title says, I’m just messing around.  I recently took a Doodle Art class on one of the .ning sites that I am involved in. I’m a member of so many that it has slipped my mind which one.  If anyone is interested in this relaxing play, please notify me and I will look it up.  Above is my layout of the class.  I actually did it sitting in my recliner. So how cool is that?  But really, I have to get serious with my art so I can get better.

I’m also taking a free class where I doodle and color on a index card every day for the summer.  It’s designed to get you in the habit of doing some type of art daily. I’ll share some of what I’ve done later.  Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Warm Hugs,                                                                                                                             Sharon (aka) Cherry Pie

Happy Day Everyone

Hello! I would like to wish every one a very Happy Day.  I  have been involved in a whirlwind of activity trying to get myself ready for the upcoming wedding of my niece.  I’m excited that I will be able to see my grand kids and have sort of a mini-vacation.  Today I’d like to share a journal page I have been working on. This page include some actual journaling underneath the layers of paint and tissue collage.  The title “My Biggest Fear” is so true.  We live in a small town that is considered ‘country’.  Although I live in a neighborhood, to get there, you will see cows and other farm animals.  My husband has a beautiful garden and plenty of fruit trees and flowers around our house.  I don’t go out there much because I am so scared I will walk upon a snake.  Recently he (my husband) asked me to come out in the yard to show me something he had done. I went out but was not comfortable at all.  I decided this would be what I would use as a title page for my journal.  Also, I have a picture of some stencils I cut out of some of my Sizzix dies.  Most of you will recognize the dies because a lot of  us have them.  The die on the upper left is a retired die from Stampin Up (at least I think it is retired) called “Tulipe Bigz”.  Thanks for reading and I’ll have more to share next week.   Oh By the Way, I like to say “You Go Girl” to Paula (aka) Journal Artista. She is a beloved member of our UStream community and UStream host. Paula has a DVD coming out soon through Interweave. You can watch her promo video of the DVD here.                                                                                         Warm Hugs,                                                                                                                                     Sharon

Busy as a Bee

Hello Friends,

I have been busy as a bee. You might not think so because I’m retired, but there are definitely lots of things to do. Some people don’t realize this. They feel that if you don’t have quote “Day Job”, you are just lying around doing nothing. This is definitely not the case. Sometime I wish I did have a day job. I am truly not the domestic type.  Below please find a few things that I have been working on. I’m learning day by day. I want to send a big THANK YOU to all the nice ladies (you too Blade) in my art journal community and my .ning sites. Have a beautiful day everyone.

Warm Hugs,

Sharon

Altered Mini Notebooks. The pink on the left was done over a year ago. I decided I needed to use some of my Tim Holtz Paper and made the blue tiny notebook. It is not finished yet but I wanted to share.

Welcome to My Artful Journey

Name plaque done on canvas.

It has taken me forever to get this new blog up and running. I would like to thank my lovely daughter for helping me with this endeavor. You see from my title that this is my journey seeking peace, love and creativity. I have made a 180-degreeturn around in my art journey.

My old blog over on BlogSpot was started when I was a Stampin Up Demonstrator years ago. It is filled with cards and other projects I made at the time. After I left SU, I dabbled a little into Mixed Media and fell in love.

Presently, I’m into Art Journaling. Prior to Art Journaling or as some say Visual Journaling, I constantly worried about what people would think about my work and whether theywould like it or not. Now, my journaling is what I like. I journal about what I feel, what I see and what I want in life.  Sometimes I share my work and sometimes it is only for me.

My mantra from one of my instructors is “No Fear”.  As you see some of my recent work, you might not like it, might not understand it or may wonder how I would come up with something like this. Well it relaxes me and helps me to get out my feelings at the time be it good or bad.

I am trying to strive for more creativity and to learn as much as I can from my community of new friends. Please find below some of my recent pages. I hope to post to this blog more often as I did my old one (although the posts won’t be this long). Feel free to subscribe and leave comments. I reallyappreciate it.

Warm Hugs,
Sharon (aka) Cherry47
